
He was the husband of Alice (Boyer) Gray, former Tax Collector, Town of Southington.
Born Sept. 18, 1924 in Wilkes Barre, PA a son of the late Charles and Anna (Kelly) Gray.
Frank served his country during WWII with the U.S. Navy. He was stationed in the pacific Theatre from March 1943 thru February 1946. He was assigned to LST241 and was a higgins boat operator. He participated in six major campaigns in the Pacific and was a survivor of Iwo Jima.
Frank retired in 1987 from Kraft Foods after 35 years in the Sales Division. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and golfer. During the 1960?s and 70?s he was a member of the Kiwanis Club. He was an active member of the American Legion, Southington Elks Club and the Polish Falcons Club. He was past president of the Northern Midget Football League and was the manager of the Red Sox Little League from 1968 to 1971.
Besides his wife, Alice he is survived by three children, Sharon Kastner, Jack Gray and his wife Joanne all of Southington and Francis Gray and his wife Julie of VT.; 6 grandchildren, Lindsay and Elliot Kastner, John, Joseph, Otis and Cooper Gray. He was predeceased by a sister Helen Jane Post.
The funeral will be held on Friday at 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to St. Dominic Church at 10 a.m. for a Mass. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.
