Frederica "Fritzie" Deitrick Updegraph, of Washington CT, died on August 26th, 2021, a short while after being diagnosed with advanced cancer. She was born in Cambridge MA to Ethyle Ansell and Frederick Simpson Deitrick on April 9, 1936. Fritzie is survived by her cherished husband and partner of 44 years, Peter Canoni; her beloved children Becky, John and David and their spouses Peter, Jill and Solly; her five grandchildren, to whom she was lovingly known as Oma; and her dear sister Robin Dee. She was an accomplished horsewoman and passionate gardener; a lifelong, graceful swimmer; and a long-suffering fan of the New York Giants football team. Always a fierce supporter of our troops, first responders, and other protectors and helpers, one of Fritzie’s last acts was to enthusiastically cheer on and thank those who were responsible for her care. She was "mom" to many Weimaraners over the years and leaves behind her good boy Chance, as well as her aged Westphalian dressage horse, Kaiser Walzer. Fritzie was a beautiful, energetic woman. All who knew her appreciated her elegance, grace, kindness, and unending strength. She died at peace with family at her side. A special thanks to "Dr. Al" Altorelli and his team for their expert and compassionate care during her final weeks. Her family requests that donations in her memory should be made to the Town Hall Gang, who support our troops stationed abroad, in care of Sheila Anson, PO Box 383, Washington Depot, CT O6794.
