

Hard working family man
WOLCOTT- Gene ”Geno” Scott Monroe, 60, beloved husband of Jean (McCallum) Monroe died suddenly on Monday, July 10, 2017.
Born in Waterbury on August 27, 1956, he was the son of the late Ernest and Ruth (Seymour) Monroe. He was a hard working mason who owned Farmingbury Masonry in Wolcott for over 20 years. He was a devoted family man and was active with Boy Scouts Troup 231. He enjoyed fishing, chopping firewood and loved his two best friends “Pop” and his dog Eli.
Besides his wife Jean of 41 years, Geno was the devoted father of three children, Shannon and her husband Dave Kenworthy Aurora, CO, Scott Monroe of Terryville, and Sara Monroe and Mihir Patel of Forestville, a grandson Logan Murphy, and his “fourth child” niece Nicole and her husband Todd Gambino their children T.J and Makayla, as well as several other nieces and nephews. Geno also leaves two sisters Patricia and her husband John Holcomb of Wolcott, Marilyn Monroe of Waterbury, a brother John Monroe of Wolcott, his father in law George “Poppy” McCallum, two sisters-in-law Elizabeth and her husband Alec Taraskewich, and Laurie Monroe all of Wolcott. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Gary and Richard Monroe.
Geno’s family will receive condolences from 4 to 8 PM on Friday July 14th at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home 690 Woodtick Rd in Wolcott. Visit www.
