

Born in Waterbury on October 10, 1934, he was the son of the late Frank and Josephine (Infascia) (Porter) Crane. He was a carpenter and owner of George Porter and Son, and later worked as a Union carpenter with Local 24. He was also previously employed at General Dynamics Electric Boat in New London. A longtime resident of Wolcott George enjoyed trips to the casinos and spending time at the VFW in Wolcott.
George is survived by a daughter Debra Martins and husband Jerry of OH, a son George Porter Jr. and wife Lisa of Terryville, four grandchildren Sandy McCann, Kristen Martins-Taylor, George Porter III, and Melissa Gutschmidt, 8 great-grandchildren Kevin Cook, Bailey McCann, Dakota McCann, Natileigh Porter, Madelyn Taylor, Vivian Porter, Avery Taylor and Ara Josephine Gutschmidt. He was predeceased by three brothers Frank, Andy and Roger Porter.
Calling hours will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00PM on Tuesday at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 690 Woodtick Road in Wolcott.
