Gus Alexander

Gus was born in Sparta, Greece on October 15, 1930 and was the son of the late Peter and Katherina Alexander. He completed his education in Sparta, and then served in the Greek army. He came to the United States from Greece in 1956 and worked with his uncle in the restaurant business. In 1958 he opened the original Southington Pizza House, from which he retired in 1995. He also owned and operated the West End Pizza House in Meriden. Gus was an active member of Saint George Greek Orthodox church in New Britain.

Besides his wife of 45 years, he leaves 2 loving daughters Kathy Gabrynowicz and her husband Steve of Madison, and Niki Kratzert and her husband Eric of Southington, 3 grandchildren, 2 sisters Helen Karres of Charlotte, NC and Costula Karklous of Sparta, 2 nephews, 2 nieces and many other close relatives and friends.

The Funeral will be held Wednesday May 27 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 301 W. Main St. in New Britain. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 9 a.m. ? 10:30 a.m. at the Church. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Ave., Meriden, CT 06450-1004. DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. is handling arrangements.
