John B. Arnold

John was born on July 16, 1922, in Stafford Springs, the son of the late John J. and Bertha (Bassett) Arnold. John was a US Navy veteran of WWII and served on the St. Louis Cruiser in the South Pacific. He worked as a carpenter for Union Local #26, where he was the union treasurer for 22 years. He worked primarily for W.J. Megin Co. for over 40 years. John built his home in Wolcott in 1959. He enjoyed gardening, square dancing with the Nutmeg Square Dance Club. He loved traveling in his motor home and wintered in FL for over 25 years. He was a devoted father and helped his children with many of their projects.

He is survived by his children, John F. and wife MaryAnn Arnold, Robert J. and wife Edie Arnold all of Zephyrhills, FL, MaryJane and husband Robert Merchant of Northfield, CT and Roger P Arnold of Uncasville, 4 grandchildren, Robert and wife Deana Merchant, Kevin and wife Lissa Merchant, John Ritucci and Carla DuBois and 9 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by 4 sisters, Eleanor Nowie, Lois Garthwait, Blanche Arnold and Carol Kogut.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 am at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 690 Woodtick Road. Calling hours will be on Wednesday morning from 9-11 am. Burial with military honors will be at Edgewood Cemetery in Wolcott.
