

Born in Waterbury on October 10, 1928, he was the son of the late James and Elizabeth (Howard) Barry. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1946. He was a combat veteran of the US Army 2nd Infantry Division during the Korean Conflict and was a Purple Heart medal recipient. Jack retired as a lieutenant from the CT Department of Corrections working over twenty years in Cheshire. During his retirement he also worked in security at St. Mary?s Hospital. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and Lady Huskies basketball team. He was a resident of Prospect before moving to Bethany in the 1970?s and a parishioner of St. Anthony?s Church.
Besides his wife of over 50 years, he is survived by a son Michael Barry and his wife Elizabeth, two grandchildren Michael J. and Brianna Rose Barry all of Wolcott. He was predeceased by a son John Jr.

Funeral will be at 10:15 AM on Saturday from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home 690 Woodtick Rd. in Wolcott to St. Anthony's Church for a Mass at 11 AM. Burial with full military honors will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling Hours will be Saturday morning from 9 AM until the time of the funeral.
