

Julia (Luponio) Sacheck, 88, of the Plantsville section of Southington, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Hospital of Central Connecticut at Bradley Memorial, with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late George M. Sacheck.
Born on June 2, 1937, in Plantsville, Julia was the daughter of the late Amedeo and Rose (DelSanto) Luponio. A lifelong resident of her cherished hometown, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt whose greatest joy was her family. Julia created a warm and welcoming home and was always happiest when surrounded by those she loved. Her kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family will be remembered always.
Julia treasured the simple pleasures in life. She enjoyed going to lunch with her lifelong circle of friends, sharing laughter and stories that spanned decades. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Aloysius Church and lived her faith quietly and faithfully. Julia loved to cook for her family, expressing her love through every meal she prepared, and she found relaxation in working on word search puzzles.
She is survived by her two daughters, Rosemary DeFeo and her husband, Bill, of Plantsville, and Lucille Cortezzo of Connecticut; her three cherished grandchildren, Michael Cortezzo Jr. and his wife Rochelle of Portland, Sarah Cortezzo of Meriden, and Noah DeFeo of Plainville; her great-grandson, Michael Cortezzo III; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her two sisters, Mary Luponio and Jean Luponio; and her two brothers, Jerry Luponio and Vincent Luponio and his wife, Lucy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 20th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Leo the Great Church-Mary Mother of the Church Parish, 14 Bentwood Dr., Waterbury. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be held prior to the Mass from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington.
Julia’s family would like to thank all those who shared in her life and supported her throughout the years. Her love and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
