Our hearts are broken as we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Kathleen (Maruzo) Faro, age 86, of Southington, on June 16, 2025. Kay left this world surrounded by her devoted family, stepping gently into eternal life and the arms of her Heavenly Father. For 65 beautiful years, Kay was the cherished wife and companion of Robert Faro. Theirs was a rare and enduring love - built on faith, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Lovingly known as Kay by all who knew her, she was born on November 2, 1938, in Norwich. Kay was the daughter of the late Joseph and Kathleen (Chausse) Maruzo.
Kay was a graduate of Southington High School class of 1956. Following in her father’s footsteps, Kay proudly served her community as the Postmaster of the Milldale section of Southington. Her work was more than a job - it was a testament to her belief in serving others. She learned American Sign Language to better assist the local deaf community, was a literacy volunteer and gave her time with the United Way, always extending herself to those in need. Kay embodied grace, compassion and quiet strength in every season of her life. She was a woman of great spirit and curiosity. She embraced life with a sense of adventure; from riding motorcycles to exploring distant corners of the world. She once dreamed of becoming a veterinarian, and although that dream took another form, she remained a lifelong animal lover, an “animal whisperer”, to all creatures great and small.
Above all, Kay’s greatest joy was her family. Her warmth, kindness, and radiant smile lit up every room she entered. She lived her faith every day, quietly guiding her children and grandchildren in the values of love, service, and strength through example. She loved deeply and was deeply loved in return. Kay is survived by her husband Robert, her daughters Lyn Johnson and husband Paul of Southington, Brenda Faro of Florida and Kathleen Sanders of Florida. She also leaves behind her brothers, Michael Maruzo of Southington and Louis Maruzo of Florida.
Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren: Daphney (Andrzejczuk) Cordeiro and husband Michael of South Carolina; Stephen Lynch and Amber Lynch of Southington and Kaitlyn Anderson of Florida. Lovingly called "Gram Gram" by her eight great-grandchildren—Jacob, Joshua, Juliet, Jonathan, Joseph, James, Justin, and Jackson— Kay was filled with endless joy and comfort from their presence in her later years. She was welcomed into eternal rest by her parents, grandson Daniel Andrzejczuk, her brother Joseph Maruzo, and her dearest friend June Alger.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 from 5-7 p.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington. Please wear any shade of blue. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 10th at 11:30 am at St. Thomas Cemetery.
In honor of Kay’s lifelong love for animals, the family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Fur-Gotten Tails Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 778, Plainville, CT 06062 or to any animal rescue of your choosing.
