

Lawrence "Larry" Edward Hurd, 82, of Southington, beloved husband of Betty (Kohl) Hurd for over 25 years, passed away on January 12, 2025 at Complete Care in Meriden. He was born in Waterville, Maine on September 21, 1942 to the late Verne and Evelyn (Fitzmaurice) Hurd.
Larry was raised in Maine on his family farm where he grew to understand hard work and perseverance. Often rising early to tend to the farm animals he valued his time with family and pitched in wherever he needed to. He was a machinist by trade working for Stanley in New Britain for over 25 years, rising to a supervision role of which he was very proud. He was a member of the Spartans Club in Kensington with whom he volunteered for countless charitable events and fundraisers. He was an avid NASCAR fan with taking a liking to Jeff Gordon, and was raised in racing where he spent his time assisting friends with their vehicles and traveling to tracks all over CT and various other states. Being a working man he was never idle and his hands and mind always at work. He also loved playing cards with his dear friends.
Besides his loving wife Betty, Larry is survived by his two sons, Jeffrey Hurd and his wife Francine and Kenneth Hurd and his wife Christine. He also leaves behind two step children, Diane Roy and Kathy Sands and her husband Don, as well as two step grandchildren and a sister Rachel Raven. He was preceded in death by three brothers and seven sisters.
A visitation for Larry will be held on Friday January 24, 2025 from 4-6 PM at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home 211 N. Main St. Southington. All other services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
