Born on February 20, 1944, in Bristol, CT, he was the son of the late Peter and Blanche (Sherman) Papineau. Marvin was a proud veteran, having served with the United States Air Force. After his time in the service, he worked for Pratt and Whitney Aircraft until his retirement.
A lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox, Marvin also enjoyed gardening, with a special love for his roses, which were the highlight of his several gardens. He also spent time traveling, reading, and working with computers. Most of all, he valued time with his family, whether during holidays, everyday moments, simple conversations, or playing board games with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Nancy, Marvin is survived by his two daughters, Robin Ellen Sallese and her husband Michael of Maynard, MA, and Sarah Meg Papineau Kowalczyk of Berlin, CT; five grandchildren, Cailin Amanda, Jonah Taylor, Sarah Elizabeth, Livia Mae, and Rosalie Gray; his brother, Rodney Papineau of Meriden, CT; and his sister, Alta Krystofolski of Southington, CT; as well as five nieces and three nephews and several grand-dogs. He was predeceased by his brother Raymond Pappineau.
A funeral service to celebrate Marvin’s life will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at 12:00 PM at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington, CT. Calling hours will be held prior to the service, starting at 10:00 AM. Burial will be private for the family.
