

Dick was born in Lowell, MA on August 16, 1933, he was the son of the late Ovila and Albertine (Poirier) O’Connor. He served in the US Marine Corps in the Korean War. He retired from Reymond’s Bakery (Sunbeam Bread) where he worked for 40+ years and then part time, prior to retiring, he worked for Devon Precision in Wolcott. He resided in Wolcott since 1962 and was a parishioner of St. Pius X Church. He also had a second home in Sarasota, FL where he and Frances spent their winter months. Dick enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, bingo and partaking in the activities at the Wolcott Senior Center.
Besides his wife of 62 years, Dick is survived by two daughters Karen Valletta and her husband Rito of Wolcott, Sandra Babich of Wolcott and her significant other, Patrick Nadeau of Terryville, a brother Donald O’Connor and his wife Lauriea of Wallingford, three grandchildren Richard Valletta and his wife Maureen of Southington, Nicole DeConti and her husband Daniel of Middletown, Torre Babich and his fiancée Vicky Griswold of Southington, 4 great grandchildren Jack, Grace, Connor and Caroline. He was predeceased by 6 brothers and 3 sisters.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, August 6th from 4 to 7 pm at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home 690 Woodtick Rd in Wolcott. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 10 at 10:00 AM at St. Pius X Church/St. Basil Parish, 525 Woodtick Road in Wolcott. Burial with military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
