Robert Joseph Grigerek, 78, of Southington, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 5, 2022. He was the loving husband of Frances (Wolak) Grigerek for over 36 years and a proud father, “Papa,” brother, and friend.
He was born on June 27, 1944 to the late Joseph and Marion (Webb) Grigerek. He was a lifelong Southington resident.
Bob served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was an active member of the American Legion. He was the owner and operator of Grigerek Masonry for many years, and much of his work was done for Town of Southington buildings and parks. He was a member of Bristol Fish & Game where he spent a lot of his time during retirement.
Bob, was known as “Pop” to many, and “Papa” to his grandchildren. He was the definition of Mr. Fix-it. Anything you needed fixed he found a way. He enjoyed spending time and fishing with his grandchildren, and going on camping trips, especially to Waterbury Reservoir in Vermont. His favorite part of the year was the annual trip to Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, Vermont with his family.
Each morning, Bob would be found having a cup of coffee at Dunkin’ Donuts with his coffee klatch friends trying to solve the world’s problems. He enjoyed going on long car rides with his wife, Fran, to explore different spots in New England, and loved spending time with his grand-dog Riggins.
He will always be remembered for his love and selfless contributions he gave those around him. The most important things in his life were his family and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Frances he leaves his children Robert T. Grigerek and wife Sheree of Middletown, Andrew J. Grigerek and wife Jennifer, Kevin DeAngelo and wife Angela and Joseph R. Grigerek and wife Alexandra all of Southington, his grandchildren Devon, Cody, Alex, Jolee, Cyrus, Mya, Carson, Trevor, Chase and Luna. He also leaves his sisters Mae L Shinn of New Britain and Dorothy Mae Pombo of Meriden.
