

Stratis (Strat) Sideris, 80 of Southington, CT passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on August 29, 2024. He was born in Hartford, CT on January 16, 1944 to Venyzelos and Rose (Cristelli) Sideris.
He grew up in Southington throughout his grammar school years and then moved to West Hartford where he graduated from Conard High School. After school he enlisted in the Navy and served 4 plus years. His tour of duty was extended due to the Vietnam War. Strat loved working with his hands. He worked in manufacturing as a Tool and Cutter Grinder for over 40 years. He worked for Chandler Evans, Pratt and Whitney and Delta Industries. In 1970 he married Valerie Bonor. They were married for 54 years. Shortly after marriage they returned to live in Southington where they raised two wonderful sons. After retirement Strat spent 15 years caring for his 5 grandchildren. You could always find him sitting on the floor playing with them. He was adored by them because he was patient, kind and loving and did not have the word “No” in his vocabulary. Strat was a handyman who could, and did, fix anything. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Strat was preceded in death by his parents and twin daughters Anthia and Andrea, and sister-in-law Betty Fenoff and her husband Everett. Besides his wife of 54 years, Valerie, he is survived by his two sons; Christopher Sideris and his husband Christopher Simone and Timothy Sideris and wife Marcie Archacki, as well as his brother Ven Sideris and his wife Kathleen, brother in law Morris Bonor and his wife Kathie and brother in law Guy Bonor and his partner Teresa Locke. He also leaves behind to cherish his memory his adoring five grandchildren, Jacob, Aidan, Carter, Evan and Parker, as well as a host of nieces nephews and cousins.
His family will receive visitors on Monday September 9, 2024 from 8:30AM to 10:30AM at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home 211 N. Main St. Southington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Dominic Church 1050 Flanders Rd. Southington at 11AM. Inurnment will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his name to the Maritime Museum, Battleship Cove, at www.battleshipcove.org Please indicate your donation is to be used for the US Navy Destroyer, Joseph P Kennedy, Jr., DD-850, this is the ship that Strat served on in the Navy. Donations may also be made to the American Cancer Society at cancer.org/dignitymemorial.
