
Born May 1, 1919 in New Britain, he was the son of the late Frank and Helen (Chiha) Skorupski.
Walter was a veteran of WWII serving with the US Army. He fought with the 29th Infantry Division. He received the Bronze Star, Infantry Combat Badge and the Commendation Medal. Walter studied at the Biaritz American University and received a degrees from the New Britain Teachers College, University of CT and Southern CT College. He was a teacher at the Milldale School and was the principal at South End and William Strong Schools. Walter organized and directed the Southington School Psychological Pupil Testing Center. Following his retirement from the Southington School System, Walter joined the Briarwood College Staff, teaching Psychology and then as the assistant to the President of the college. While at Briarwood he conducted the Psychological testing for the Southington Police Dept.
Walter is survived by a brother, Henry Skorupski, two sisters, Helen Folscheid and Stella Bobrowski all of New Britain along with several nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 10 a.m. at St. Dominic Church, 1050 Flanders Rd., Southington. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Jerome?s Cemetery, Holyoke, MA. There are no calling hours. The DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington is assisting the family with the arrangements.
