Warren E. Minkler, 92, of Southington and formerly of Higganum, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on June 22, 2025, at Southington Care Center. He was the husband of the late Jean (Conrad) Minkler, to whom he was married for 45 years until her death in 2005.
Warren was born November 2, 1932, in New Haven, son of the late Lloyd and Catherine (Kollar) Minkler. He was raised in West Haven, where he met the “love of his life,” Jean.
They married in October 1959 and soon relocated to Hidden Lake in Higganum, where Warren lived for 60 years. He and Jean developed many lifelong friendships in town, and enjoyed a rich social life. Warren was a veteran of the Korean War, proudly serving with the U.S. Navy in the Mediterranean Fleet. He was a design draftsman at Standard-Knapp and B & B Equipment in Portland until his retirement. He had a lifelong interest in aviation and a naturally mechanical and inventive mind. He was gifted with the remarkable ability to imagine, build, and fix just about anything with self-taught skills in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, automotive, and mechanics. Above all, Warren was a devoted husband, father, and friend who was a great role model to his children. Warren is survived by his son Steven Minkler and wife Karen of Waterbury, daughter Kathleen Minkler and husband Marc Gionfriddo of Higganum, and two grandchildren, Rosemary Minkler and Mikayla Heim. He was predeceased by his wife Jean and brother Daniel Minkler.
Services for Warren will be held privately with his family. A celebration and remembrance
luncheon will be held at a future date. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children (www.shrinerschildrens.org), St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) or the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org).
