Albert Dobson

April 19, 1925 - April 30 2014.

It is with great sadness that the family of Albert announces his peaceful passing at St. Catharines General Hospital on April 30 at age 89. Born in Belsay, England, son of Sydney and Annie Dobson. Beloved husband of Phyllis Dobson (Shallhorn, nee Gosling), pre-deceased by wife Evelyn (nee Robinson). Loving father of Chris (Bonnie) of Sebringville; Ken (Alison) of Newmarket; Patricia of Bath, England; Margaret (Dino) of St Catharines, and David of Toronto. Grandfather of Matt, Amanda, Michael; Sara, Jake; Kelly, Kevin, Jesi; Chris (Rachel), Leah, and Nicole. Great grandfather to Jacob, Olive, Trent, and Jayce. Step father of Steve (Christine) of Toronto; Sue (Joe) of Burlington; Nancy (Paul) of St Catharines; Eric (Jennifer) of Toronto. Step Grandfather of Allison (Romley), Jennifer; Brad, Jessica (Mike); Gary, Rachel, Natalie; and Michael.

After emigrating from Newcastle –upon- Tyne to Montreal in 1952, Albert started his long and successful career as mechanical engineer with Montreal Engineering (Monenco). While rising through the ranks, Albert enjoyed travelling around the world and working with many different countries and then in the early seventies returned to the UK, to become Managing Director of Monenco Overseas, based in Bristol. Albert returned to Canada in the late seventies and spent some time in Oakville before settling in the St. Catharines area. Although he spent many years travelling, Albert remained a long-time Newcastle United fan. Albert will be sadly missed by his extended family and many friends.

Family and friends will be received at the HULSE & ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL; 75 Church Street, (905 684-6346) on Monday, May 5 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at which time a Memorial Service will be celebrated in the chapel.
