It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Allen Walter Overy. He was a man who had a real passion for life, was one of a kind and had a generous, loving heart. Those that knew him will attest to his love for his family, gardening, music and Arsenal, his football team.
Allen has left behind his soul mate, wife Lise, his children; Savannah (John), Tristan (Lee Ann) and Jill, along with his grandchildren; Alexander, Abby and Simon; Sister Janet (John); Cousin Michael (Debbie), many nieces and nephews, as well as his special pal Oliver, the cat.
He brought thoughtfulness, compassion, joy and friendship to those he encountered. Allen was a man who cared deeply for those around him and he was always there to help in any way he could with words of wisdom or his expert advice. He felt immense value in being able to help others.
His passion for gardening is something many of you will have witnessed from seeing his work at his house on Yates Street. He took tremendous pride in his haven which was a place of solace for him; and for those that had the privilege to share in that space of beauty and peace.
He was a man who wore many hats over his lifetime and with that he had many talents. Whatever he put his mind to he excelled at and flourished. Never one to put off what could be done today; he tackled whatever was brought before him with gusto.
His greatest accomplishments were the love and compassion he had for his family and his community, which he cared for very much.
He was what we all should be; generous, gracious, reliable and most of all funny. Wish him well and always remember what he brought to you.
Finally, we would like to thank Dr. Duong and Dr. Fraser at Juravinski Hospital for all the time and care they took looking after Allen. He was always so grateful to have been in such good hands.
As per his wishes, his cremation has taken place and we would like to ask for attendance at his celebration of life that will take place in late August, details to follow.
