Bertha Dawn Turnbull, born May 10, 1969; passed away unexpectedly at home on April 14, 2023. She is predeceased by her parents; Mary Elizabeth MacBournie and Kenneth Alfred Turnbull. Bertha grew up in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia until 1985 when she and her family moved to Toronto, Ontario. She was an immensely kind hearted and compassionate woman; all she wanted from life was to make others happy and to help in any way that she could. Bertha worked as a caregiver for both the elderly and children for many years. Bertha always knew how to make a person smile whether it was a witty joke or just a simple “hello” as you passed her doorstep.
She will be missed by her two children Victor DaCunha and Katelyn Phalen; her only grandson Elijah Phalen; her siblings Darlene Vail (Bill), Derek Turnbull & Kenneth Turnbull (Jodi); and nieces and nephews Tyler, Laura, Brooklyn, and Evan.
A visitation for Bertha will be held Tuesday, April 25, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Hulse & English Funeral Home & Chapel, 75 Church Street, St. Catharines, Ontario. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared below for the Turnbull family.
