December 18, 1941 – April 14, 2023
With courage and determination through her journey with cancer, Nell died peacefully at the St. Catharines hospital on April 14, 2023. After training as a nurse in Montreal, Nell travelled the world before choosing to make St. Catharines her home. Never too busy to make time for others, she led a purposeful life as she helped to better our community as a loyal and faithful volunteer, including at the St. Catharines Hospital, the Alzheimer’s Society, St. George’s Anglican Church Breakfast Program, Morningstar Mill, Canadian Federation of University Women and Hospice Niagara.
In recognition of her many contributions, Nell was honoured to receive Rotary’s Paul Harris Fellowship Award in recognition of exemplary service to the community and Hospice Palliative Care Ontario’s 2022 June Callwood Circle of Outstanding Volunteers Award.
Nell truly lived the motto ‘service before self’. She was loved by many for her positive attitude and compassionate nature. Her cheerful curiosity, her spirit of kindness, her enthusiasm and her joy for life will be missed by her family and her many friends.
A sincere thank you to the doctors, nurses and paramedics at Niagara Health – St. Catharines who provided exceptional and compassionate care to Nell.
