Kathleen Adel Monteith (nee Moore) passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Hospice Niagara on August 18, 2021, in her 90th year. Beloved wife of the late James (Jim) Monteith (2001). Loving mother of Judy Dagenais and David (Lenora) Monteith. Cherished grandmother to David (Larry), Bryan (Kaitlyn), Melissa (Jason), Kristen (Brent), and Leah (Ian) and great-grandmother of 9. Dear sister of the late Isobel (the late Ross) and Margaret (the late Bob). She will be missed by many nieces, nephew, other family members, and friends.
Mom was born in Midland, Ontario, and grew up in Victoria Harbour. Mom attended business college in Toronto. Mom and dad married in 1951 and eventually settled in St. Catharines in 1957. Besides being a wife and a mom she worked at the Right House, Anthes Eastern and eventually retired from the Niagara District School Board after many years of service.
Mom was a member of St. Giles Presbyterian Church where she was also a member of the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed baking for their fundraisers. She was also a member of the Empress Rebeccah Lodge #87. She held positions of Noble Grand, vice grand, and chaplin for a period.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and thanks to the amazing staff and volunteers at Hospice Niagara. You are the true angels. Words cannot properly describe the care and compassion you showed during this difficult time. During such a short time you become family. Thank you.
Friends and family will be received at the Hulse & English Funeral Home & Chapel, 75 Church St, St. Catharines, ON (905-684-6346). A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 22 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. All guests wishing to attend the visitation must call the funeral home to reserve a space as we are still required to follow Covid 19 restrictions. All guests will be required to sign in upon arrival, wear a mask and maintain social distancing protocol. The funeral will be held at St. Giles Presbyterian Church, 205 Linwell Rd, St. Catharines on Monday, August 23 at 1 p.m. The Interment will be held in Midland, Ontario at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Kathleen may be made to Hospice Niagara or St. Giles Presbyterian Church.
