Lena Seniuk

It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of Lena Seniuk (nee Awramenko), loving wife of Russell, and devoted mother of Natalie, Matthew, and Gregory. Lena passed away at the London Cancer Centre at Victoria Hospital on Saturday, April 28, 2012. She is survived by her mother Natasha Awramenko, sister Nadia (Andy) Chornenky, brother Walter Awramenko, aunt Mary (William) Ulisko, and nephews, nieces and cousins. Lena was predeceased by her father Wasyl Awramenko.

Lena was a former teacher and principal with the District School Board of Niagara, and co-founder of the Ms. Math program. Lena served as the president of the Laurier Liberal Ladies for two terms, volunteered with Out of the Cold, and was an active member of the Ukrainian community, having served 7 years as parish president of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. George in St. Catharines.

The family will receive friends at HULSE & ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, (75 Church Street, St. Catharines, 905-684-6346) on Tuesday, May 1 from 2:00-4:00pm. A Panachyda will be held at 7:00pm followed by visitation until 9:00pm. Funeral service will be held at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. George (65 Facer Street in St. Catharines) on Wednesday, May 2 at 10:00am followed by interment at Victoria Lawn Cemetery.
