It is with profound sadness the family announces the passing of Marjorie on Tuesday, March 2nd, 2018, in her 93rd year. Marjorie, beloved wife of the late Merlyn. Cherished mother to Eric (Linda) and Valerie. Grandmother to Jake (Holly) and Jonathan and great grandmother to Abigail. Predeceased by her parents Peter and Bessie (nee Marshall) McLaren, brother Charlie and her sister Muriel. Lovingly remembered by her sister-in-law June, and nieces and nephews Shirley (Jim) Houghton; Sharon (Bob) Merritt; Shon (Harold) Froese; Peter (Cindy) McLaren; Bruce McLaren and Janice (Stephen) Connolly.
Born in Toronto, and newly married to husband Merlyn, Marjorie moved to St. Catharines in 1953, moving into the family home that year and remaining there until her passing 65 years later. An avid reader, she “consumed’ three newspapers a day and several books a week until the last few months of her life. Yet, she still found time to watch every game of her beloved Toronto Maple Leafs.
The family will receive friends at the Hulse & English Funeral Home & Chapel, 75 Church Street, St. Catharines (905-684-6346) on Wednesday, March 7th from 11 am -1pm. A Celebration of Marjorie’s life will follow in the chapel at 1pm. Cremation.
