Aunt Mary was definitely one of a kind. She spoke her mind, loved with her whole heart and had a great, hearty laugh. I will miss her wonderful phone calls and the memories that she shared of Harold, Jim and Helen. She will be missed.

Unique Aunt Mary had sense of fun and no nonsense rolled into one ! Her spirit of adventure took her across an ocean, yet she still found time (and the phone !) to stay close to her family over here, I always smile when I think of her !

Lovely, funny Aunty Mary.  I can't tell you, Michael, Kevin and Ruth how much I will miss your Mum.  Whenever I spoke to her on the phone she would make me smile with her infectious laugh and sense of fun.  I always joked and told her she sounded so young! My sister Mary was a great communicator and she loved to keep in touch with family and friends,  in Northern Ireland,  by both letter and phone. She was blessed with a great memory right to the end, we will miss her calls and chat. Sadly missed by her sister Carol, brother in law Norman and nephews Darryl and Nigel House

Hearing about Mary's/Granny's passing has deeply saddened Kevin Grant, Megan and myself! We will truly look back on all the good memories that we were able to share. Her calls, texts, thoughtful letters, nuts & bolts boxes and her scrumptious meringues will be greatly missed! Her recipes and letters have been saved throughout the years as a reminder of the type woman she was and we will keep her spirit alive for future generations. Her faith was strong as she always was giving of herself to help others in need. She is now in heaven and united with God and her loved ones.  We now have another angel whispering in our ear and there to guide us in our thoughts! Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to all who were touched by her presence and especially to her immediate family! I had the pleasure of meeting Mary when she was a physiotherapy patient at two of the clinics I worked at. I always looked forward to her visits and spending some time with her. She shared many stories from her time when she first came to Canada and of her family.  A wonderful lady with great faith, a big heart and filled with joy and humour - I shall miss her. My sympathies and prayers to all her family - she spoke of you with great love and pride.

Sorry to hear about your mom passing away Ruth. Reading these posts makes me think she must have been an amazing woman. My sympathies go out to you and your family at such a difficult time.

We are all very sad to hear the news about Mary - all the great-nieces and nephews have huge affection for their "ancient great Aunt Mary" ( that was how she always signed their birthday cards) - after our dad died Mary immediately took on the role of sending cards and presents to all his grandchildren (no mean task, given there are 6 of them) - we never thanked her enough but I think she took pleasure from knowing that she was essentially helping her brother James and looking after the Muirhead family. We will all miss Mary's straight talking and great warmth and humour.
