Bill is the beloved husband of 63 years to Dorothy J. (Wright) McCordick. He is the devoted father of David McCordick and his wife Kristen of Westborough, MA, Michael B McCordick and his wife Nicole Sartor of Orangeville and Corinne McCordick and her partner Margaret Alexander of Toronto. He is the loving Grandpa to Connor, Ryan, Arianna, Landon, Courtney and Jamal. He is the beloved brother of the late Cpl. Marilyn McCordick.
Bill was a lifelong resident of St. Catharines. Born on March 3, 1930, son of the late Bruce McCordick and Jean (Morden) McCordick. He attended the St. Catharines Public School system and graduated from St. Catharines Collegiate High School. Bill joined the rowing team there and was on the Henley championship eights crew. He went on to the University of New Brunswick, studying Electrical Engineering. Bill was hired at Abitibi Paper company as an Engineer when they started up a new paper machine, and worked there for over 35 years, through several ownership changes and roles, including Electrical Superintendent, and was instrumental in pioneering the local recycling paper industry.
Bill enjoyed tennis, serving as Treasurer and President for the former St. Catharines Tennis club and later became a member of the White Oaks Tennis Club. He also enjoyed playing golf and was a member of both the Niagara on The Lake Golf Club and the St. Catharines Golf and Country Club. Bill also loved to ski and took his family on many ski trips to the U.S., Quebec and with Dorothy and friends to Austria. He swam often on summer days in the family pool. He enjoyed curling and playing Bridge with his friends. Bill also was an active member of Gyros, Probus as well as supporting the charitable initiatives of St. Georges Anglican Church. Bill regularly assisted with their Saturday morning Breakfast Club.
Bill designed and built a home, where family and friends could always find a cup of tea, glass of wine, or a great barbecue pool party. He will always be remembered with deepest affection by all whose lives he touched.
