CONROY, ANNE MARIE. (nee Brady), Baptized into the hope of Christ's resurrection on Sunday, August 28, 2011. Beloved wife of the late Anthony Conroy. Dear mother of Mary Ann (Michael Mueller) Conroy, Michael Gerard (Amy) Conroy, Anthony Kevin (Peggy) Conroy & John Joseph Conroy. Cherished grandmother of Meagan Anne Marie (Jason) Langdoc, Mary Margaret "Molly" Conroy Knight, Anne Kate & Amy Lea Conroy, Molly Kate, Anthony Kevin Jr. & Kate Dooley Conroy & the late Catherine Nellie Conroy, adored great grandmother of Aine Marie Campion, and loved aunt and great aunt.
Anne was born in the village of Phelimspark, Glenamaddy, County Galway, Ireland. She was the youngest child of Thomas and Margaret (Hussey) Brady. Her aunt and uncle, Mary (Hussey) and Thomas Hayes sponsored her emigration to the United States in 1950, where she soon met Tony Conroy, himself an emigrant from County Mayo, Ireland. They were married at St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church in 1952. She loved to work, and enjoyed long associations with Kroger Groceries, Sherwood Medical, and for the past 13 years, Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary, where she tended to those grieving in the refreshment room. She volunteered countless hours with the "Crafters" at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church and with the Kingshighway Baptist Church Food Pantry. She was an exceptional Irish step dancer and was always ready to teach the young ones a simple jig, humming the tunes and moving her feet. She was known as the "Sweater Lady" for her knitting skills, crafting intricately patterned Aran sweaters for dear friends and family. And at the end of the day, a quick card game of 500 Rummy brought laughter in the kitchen with accusations of cheating if she did not win. She had boundless energy and feistiness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Anthony, her sisters Peggy, Theresa, and Sarah, and her brothers James and Michael. She will be sadly missed by all.
