William "Bill" Dale Utz, age 80, fortified with the sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Thursday, March 23, 2023. Beloved husband of Carmeline Locastro (nee Strano) Utz; loving father of Daniel J. Utz, Matthew S. Utz, and the late David Utz; dear grandfather of Charlotte, Brigid,, Abigail, and Lydia Rose; dear brother of John (the late Mary Jo) Utz, Mary Kay (Mike) McPherson, Doris (Ken) Barks, and the late Richard Utz.
Born September 25, 1942 in East St. Louis, IL to Harold & Anne (nee Roarty) Utz, Bill attended Assumption High School, worked at Granite City Steel, and became a machinist apprentice at Knight Machine Company. He worked as a machinist at Reynolds Metals, McDonnel Aircraft, the St. Louis Lighting Department, and retired from the St. Louis Water Division after 24 years as a Master Machinist.
Bill loved to talk to people and always remembered their faces. He bicycled in Forest Park, Tower Grove Park, and to a meeting in Creve Coeur Park. He attended the YMCA, and walked with the Ten Toes Walking Group. He helped with the Boy Scouts at St. Aloysius Church and at St. Joan of Arc. He participated in activities at the St. Louis Activity Center on Arsenal. He and Carm were married in 1966.
Bill and Carm loved to travel with the St. Aloysius Trip group organized by Carm's sister, Jo Bertani. Bill was an usher at St. Gabriel's church their first five years in the parish.
SERVICES: Visitation 9am until time of Mass at 11am on Thursday, March 30, 2023 St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, corner of Sulphur & Pernod. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial contributions suggested to St. Vincent DePaul c/o St. Joan of Arc Parish.
