Billy was the loving husband of Joann Pate (nee Stallard); beloved father of the late Billy Joe Pate, Jr., Tiffany (Kris) Welch, and Kristina (Jonathan Hinkebein) Pate; cherished grandpa of Brittany Dejournett, Caleb Madrigal, Matthew Pate, Nicholas Welch, and Landon Pate; devoted great-grandfather of Kayden Inman, Kylan Dejournett, and Kinley Inman; dear brother of James (Debbie) Pate, Barbara (the late Ronald) Pinkley, Norma (Michael) Webb, the late Charles (Wanda) Pate; dear ex-husband of the late Lisa Pate; dear uncle, cousin, and friend to many in his lifetime.
Billy, or "Bird" as he was affectionately known, was a huge fan of the St. Louis Blues and preferred to watch on television to hear the play by play. He enjoyed the outdoors and playing with his dog, Madison. He loved roller-skating and was extremely good at it. It made him happy to host his friends for a barbeque, which he would cook. He was a hard working man who supported his family as a carpenter.
Most of all Bird was devoted to his family and loved having everyone around. His favorite quote was, "Can't just means you don't want to." He will be remembered as funny, kind, generous, and carefree. He didn't sweat the small stuff...he let Joann do that.
A Memorial Gathering will be held Saturday, January 28, 2023 from 1-4pm at Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary, 6464 Chippewa Street, Saint Louis MO 63109.
