Beloved son of the late Helmuth D. and Gertrude (Elschner) Meier; loving brother of Dr. Marianne M. Meier; dear uncle of Victor (Olga), Elizabeth and Wayne Dittrich; special great-uncle of Dr. Jacqueline Davis, Heather (Davis) Broome, Ashley Davis, Alfredo, and Adolpho Dittrich.
Charles served in the Air Force during the Korean War after which he continued his government service as a civilian. He enjoyed photography and his Leisure Hours outings with First United Methodist Church of Birmingham, Michigan.
He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, grew up and spent his career in St. Louis, Missouri. After retirement, Charles moved to Michigan to be with his sister Marianne and her family, first settling in Bloomfield Hills, and lastly, Grand Rapids.
A private burial will take place at St. Paul Churchyard in Saint Louis.
