“Chrissy”, as she is affectionately known to her family and friends, had a happy childhood in the South City neighborhood where she would always remain. Befitting of her warmth, compassion, and generous spirit, Chrissy attended Deaconess College of Nursing and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Maryville University. Her long and fulfilling nursing career included positions in the Orthopedics Department of St. John’s Mercy Hospital, Patient Care Technician Program Director at the St. Louis College of Health Careers, and as an ICU nurse at the John Cochran VA Medical Center.
Chrissy eventually bought the family home and with that, she took over the role of hosting Christmas and Thanksgiving celebrations. She also started a new tradition of having the siblings over for a BBQ or a bonfire every chance she got. She will be dearly missed by her siblings John (Sharon) Sullivan, Kathy (Darryl) Swearngin, Michael (Christina) Sullivan, Marlene (Dave) Hume, Dan Sullivan, Julie (Ken) Champion and her very special friends Jean Schildz and Lisa Johnson. Chrissy had a special bond with each of her nieces and nephews John (Kara) Sullivan, Jenni (Michael) Chafin, Carly (Greg) Patton, Andrew (Amy) Hume, Aaron (Casey) Swearngin, Beck Champion, Kenny (Cathy) Champion, and will forever hold a place in their hearts. Chrissy also leaves behind ten great-nieces and great-nephews as well as many cousins and friends. Her furry friends, Purrl and Ted, will miss her dearly.
The Sullivan family extends our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to Chrissy’s wonderful coworkers in the ICU and all of her colleagues at John Cochran for their unwavering generosity, compassion and loving care.
