She was born in South Saint Louis in 1926 and lived in the area her entire life. She graduated from Cleveland High School where she was a "star" singer. She married fellow native South Saint Louisan, John C. Schilling, in May 1949. They raised two children and celebrated 64 years together.
Dorothy was genuinely happy as a wife, mother, and homemaker. She loved cooking and entertaining, sewing, crafts, singing, and bargain shopping. She was smarter than she knew; so strong in later life that she surprised herself; so pretty and always wore makeup; and so witty and quick, she was always sharing laughter.
Dorothy is predeceased by her husband, John, and sister, Marguerite Rueschhoff. She was loving mother of Rebecca "Becky" Schilling and .; cherished grandmother of Erin (Doug), Sarah, Katie (Jason), and John; dear great-grandma of Sophie, Grace, Mila, Elliot, Dylan, and Michael John; and beloved aunt of Dan (Linda), Mike (Dawn), and Matt (Lisa).
Dorothy's family extends heartfelt gratitude to her caregivers - the WooHoo Club - for the amazing and loving way they ensured her happiness, safety, and health: Chelsey, Felicia, Tashia, and Barbara.
