Douglas Michael Schell

Douglas Michael Schell, September 21, 1959, died April 13 at his residence in Southwest St. Louis among family and friends. Beloved husband of Peg Weathers; loving son of Mary and Jack; devoted father to Brandon; cherished grandfather to Chase and Gavin; dear brother to Mark, Greg, Steve and Vicki Schell; brother-in law-to Rita, Rhonda, and Darla Schell, Mary and Gus Buttice, Lenly and Sara Weathers, Katherine Weathers and Dan Schroder, and Sally and Tim Zetzman; loving uncle to numerous children.

Doug was a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia and a leader in economic development for St. Louis and St. Charles counties. Doug was also a strong supporter of the alcohol and drug recovery community, serving as president of the Hilljack House for many years. He served on numerous boards and gave his time in a variety of civic improvement areas.

An avid athlete he competed in soccer into his 50s for the Kutis Soccer Team and played golf, a lifelong passion regularly at Aberdeen and other courses around the area and the continent.

Doug loved his family and friends and instilled the values of service, stability, faith, charity and dignity in many of our lives. His positive outlook on life, wonderful sense of humor, and willingness to help others was endless. He will be missed.

Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday April 25, 2015 from 10:00 AM until time of memorial service at 3:00 PM, Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary 6464 Chippewa St, St. Louis, MO.
