

John was the beloved husband of Elaine, with whom he shared 44 years of marriage built on love, partnership, and unwavering commitment. Together, they created a strong and caring family that remained at the center of his life.
He was a proud and loving father to his children: Steven; Anthony (wife Taylor) of Mountain View, California; and Julia (husband Ben) of Union, Kentucky. John was also a cherished grandfather to Clara, Olivia, and Jack, who brought him great joy and pride. In addition, he was eagerly anticipating the arrival of a new grandchild this November.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Stavros and Vassiliki Dubis, and his brother Paul. He is survived by his brothers, Greg Dubis and Dave Dubis, and his sisters, Elizabeth Glynias, Linda Dubis Meyer, and Christina Dubis.
John devoted more than 36 years to a distinguished career in healthcare leadership. He served as President and CEO of St. Elizabeth Healthcare, where he was known for his integrity, compassion, and vision. During his tenure, he helped guide the organization's continued growth and commitment to high-quality patient care.
Over the course of his career, he held executive leadership roles at several hospitals and health systems, including SSM St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City, Missouri; SSM St. Francis Hospital and Health Center in Chicago, Illinois; and SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center in St. Louis.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, John gave generously of his time and expertise, serving on numerous boards and civic organizations, including the Kentucky Hospital Association, the Greater Cincinnati Health Council, and the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. His leadership and commitment made a lasting impact on the communities he served.
John will be remembered for his steady presence, kind heart, and deep dedication to helping others. Above all, he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather whose legacy lives on through his family.
Visitation will be held at Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary, 6464 Chippewa Street, St. Louis, MO 63109, on May 20, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
A Funeral will take place at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 4967 Forest Park Ave, St. Louis, MO 63108, on May 21, 2026, at 12:00 pm, followed by Committal at St. Matthew Cemetery, 4360 Bates St, St. Louis, MO 63116, on May 21, 2026, at 1:30 pm.
A Luncheon will be held at Surf & Sirloin, 13090 Manchester Rd, Des Peres, MO 63131, US, on May 21, 2026 following the Committal. If you are planning on attending the luncheon, please RSVP to Elaine.
