Dear husband of the late Theresa Modde (nee Gaydos), Loving father of Cindy (Jack) Leonard, Rick Modde, Terri (Dave) Ilges, Deb (Greg) Kornfeld, Nancy Modde, Scott (Janet) Modde and Cathy Modde, great-grandfather of Tim (Sarah) and Jeff (Jonna) Leonard, Katie (Jordan) Rouff, Chris Kornfeld, Ryan (Heather) and Kyle Ilges, Elizabeth, Ben and Ian Modde, great-grandfather of Becky Leonard and Kreytn and Gage Ilges, son of the late Leo Peter Modde and Iva C. Prost, brother of Lora Killian, (the late Robert), the late Lee (Bill) Schrader, the late Cathy (Jasper) Gianino, Ivy (Art) Baebler, Donald (Marie) Modde, Bob (LeeAnn) Modde and Joan (Ron) Unterreiner. Honorary father and grandfather to Rene Defiore, Jan Flamm, Drew and Nikki Flamm. Lifelong friend of John T. Burt (‘My Buddy’), dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend.
Scott was born in Belgique, Mo in 1923, graduated from Perryville H.S. 1941, served in the U.S. Army in WWII, married Theresa Gaydos June 7, 1947; member of St. Joan of Arc Parish, St. Vincent DePaul, weekly money counter, Red Cross volunteer for over 20 years, member of Holy Name Society, volunteered at Incarnate Word Hospital, Deaconess Hospital, Laclede Groves; retired from U.S. Govt., as systems analyst, member of AARP, member of National Association of Retired Federal Employees .
Scott was known and loved by many. His patience and quiet kindness were model character traits for all. Scott loved his family and extended family – welcoming friends of his children into the family circle. He was always ready to join in a get-together for birthdays, holidays and family celebrations.
The family would like to thank the staff of St. Mary’s Hospital 4th floor ICU and his long time physicians, Drs. Michael Bartell and Michael Fleissner for the care and compassion they showed to our father.
In lieu of flowers contributions in Scott’s name may be may be made to St. Joan of Arc’s St. Vincent DePaul Society or a charity of your choice.
Funeral from HOFFMEISTER COLONIAL MORTUARY, 6464 Chippewa at Watson, Friday 12:00 P.M. to St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church with the celebration of Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 p.m. The interment will follow with full Military Honors in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
