Marie was the beloved wife of the late John (Jack) Hunt Jr., the love of her life, with whom she shared 69 years of marriage. She was the devoted mother of Dennis (Jean) Hunt, Thomas (Toni) Hunt, Mary Kay (Joe) Piantanida, and Terry (late Gregory) Spak. She was a loving grandmother to Daniel (Heather) Hunt, David (Emily) Hunt, Ted (Nicole) Hunt, Ellen (Sheldon) Menezes, Joe (Devon) Piantanida, Emily (Jason) Thomas, and Samuel Spak, and the dearest great grandmother of eleven with one more on the way.
Marie was a cherished sister in law to the late William (late Delores) Hunt, the late George (Cora) Hunt, the late Jane (late Harry) Hasenpflug, and the late Bob (JoAnne) Hunt. She was a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews and a treasured friend to many throughout her long and full life.
A graduate of St. Elizabeth’s High School, Marie was a proud and devoted member of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish for more than 70 years. She contributed countless hours as a volunteer with Boy Scout Troop 51, served as a Girl Scout leader, and participated actively in the Women’s Guild, the Over 50 Club, the annual OLS church picnic, and numerous CYC events.
Marie was a woman of many talents and hobbies. She loved cooking large sit down family meals and found joy in counted cross stitch, knitting Christmas stockings, crocheting, sewing, coloring, ceramics, painting ornaments, reading and bowling. Deeply rooted in her faith, she prayed the rosary daily and held a special devotion to St. Thérèse, the Little Flower.
Marie’s home was also shared with her beloved pets, Stormy and Max, who brought her great comfort and companionship.
Above all, Marie’s proudest accomplishment was her family. Her greatest joy came from time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She created a home filled with warmth, tradition, and love—gifts that will be carried forward by all who knew her.
