

Gioia, Rose, July 29, 2012 at the age of 101. Born November 16, 1910 to Charles and Innocenta (nee Colombo) Gioia. Dear sister of Mike (Louise) Gioia, Theresa Gioia, Joseph (Augusta) Gioia, Mary (Frank) McLaughlin and Charles L. (Patricia) Gioia. They all predeceased her. Dear aunt of Louise Nolan, the late Rose Schaper, Joseph Gioia, Antoinette Wahlig, Charles Gioia, Jr., Frank McLaughlin, Jr., the late Michelle Gioia-Campbell, Rose Marie Neels, Denise Gioia, Anthony Gioia, John Gioia and Dan McLaughlin, great-aunt to 28 and friend to many.
Rose was a lifelong resident of the Dogtown neighborhood. She was a devoted member of St. James the Greater Catholic Church and was active in many church groups. She operated a tailor and cleaning business on Tamm Avenue for over 30 years. In her later years, she enjoyed sitting outside, talking with her neighbors and people walking by. A special thank you to Viola Pisoni and all of Rose’s caring friends, that allowed her to stay in her home until recently. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

Funeral from HOFFMEISTER COLONIAL MORTUARY, 6464 Chippewa at Watson Tuesday, July 3 , 2012 9:30 A.M. to St. James the Greather Catholic Church with Mass at 10:00 A.M. The interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
