Daniel William Till

Passed away peacefully at St. Joe’s Hospital in St. Paul on January 3, 2014 from complications of COPD. He is survived by Siblings, Kenneth (Rose), Susan (Jim) Schaefer & James (Shelly); Nieces, Grand-Nieces, Grand-Nephew & Friends. Preceded in death by his mother and father, Onita R. [nee Bandy] and Francis A. Dan was born on September 20, 1953 in St. Paul. He served proudly in the U.S. Navy, including a tour of duty on the U.S.S. Wichita from 1972-75 during the Viet Nam war, earning several commendations. He was a valued member of his local VFW and American Legion. Although he earned his diploma in Restaurant/Hotel Cookery in June 1976, he was an employee of Metro Transit for the last 16 years, where he earned the Outstanding Operator award among others. Throughout Dan’s illness, he always maintained his trademark sense of humor. Service will be on Monday, January 13 at 6pm at Wulff Godbout Funeral Home, 560 W. 7th St, St. Paul, with visitation one hour prior. Memorial Committal will be held Tuesday, January 14 at 12:15pm at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, 7601 34th Ave S., Mpls. A private burial at sea will be carried out by the U.S. Navy at a future date.
