She is survived by her son, Luc DeRosia-Voelker; father, Marvin Voelker; sister, Kris Voelker Riley; brother-in-law, Timothy Riley; and her nieces Cleo Pupillo and Kit Pupillo. She was predeceased by her mother, Patricia Voelker.
Jennifer graduated from Broad Ripple High School in Indianapolis in 1987 before earning a bachelor’s degree from Beloit College in Wisconsin in 1991. A gifted linguist who spoke French, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish, and some Russian, Jennifer lived in Hamamatsu, Japan, where she taught English and developed a life-long love for Japanese language and culture. She also lived in France and Brazil and relished spending time in Canada, Greece, and India.
Jennifer worked as a translator for Northwest Airlines and, later, worked for IKEA before joining a talented team at Thompson Reuters in St. Paul. She started her own company to make and market her distinctive line of bedazzled jewelry and ornaments.
Though Jennifer had a successful and satisfying career, the job she loved most was being a mother and raising her extraordinary son, Luc.
Jennifer was generous with her time and her heart, swearing never to forget others who were less fortunate.
Jennifer enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, looking for any opportunity to host a gathering or entertain others. Her kindness was boundless and infectious. She and Luc were lovingly surrounded at home by their two cats, Gracie and Chloe.
The family wishes to express gratitude to the excellent oncology team at Regions Hospital, the compassionate staff at Our Lady of Peace Hospice in St. Paul as well as Jennifer’s small army of angels—friends and family—who provided comfort and care.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 10 am on Saturday, May 25, at Wulff Funeral Home, 1485 White Bear Ave N, St. Paul, Minnesota.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Regions Hospital Foundation, Our Lady of Peace Hospice, or a charity of your choosing to benefit those in need.
