Molly was born and raised in Washington DC with her father Dr. William Abbey Turner, mother Mrs. Myrtie Marie Turner (nee Woodward), older sister Jane Fortey (nee Turner) and maternal grandpa Charles B. Woodward living next door.
Mary (aka “Molly”) was an exceptional person and a loving mother. Throughout her life she put her faith in Jesus Christ and was active in her churches where she was a member. She had a smile that could light up a room! She passed away on December 20, 2025 in Bloomington Minnesota after a brief illness.
Our many thanks to the staff at Meadow Woods Assisted Living, Bloomington EMT’s, and Fairview Southdale Hospital that helped saved her life long enough to give us a little more time to say goodbye, reminisce, eat Ice cream, cuddle with her Granddogs Ninja and Jackie, sing songs and praise God. Mom never liked to do things flippantly. She was a great planner. She got what we all wanted…just a few extra days. We all enjoyed our many adventures with mom and dad over the years, and we have so many great memories.
After graduating from the University of Maryland, she began teaching in her studies of physical education and English. She married shortly after graduating, and she and her beloved husband Bill, of almost 65 years, settled in Cumberland Maryland. It was there that they started their family. After moving to Woodbury Minnesota their family grew. They continued to raise their children there in that community that they loved so much. She cherished her neighbors and friends and their time together in Washington DC, Cumberland MD, Woodbury MN, Weatherford OK, and Crossville TN. She enjoyed being a stay at home mom, finishing out her working years at 3M Company in Maplewood.
Molly and Bill enjoyed many years in the Cumberland Mountains of Tennessee where they retired for many years. They enjoyed golf, volunteering, traveling with their RV, trips to Florida and Hilton head Island and time visiting with their neighbors, friends, and family. Molly was always an active volunteer in her church communities and schools, especially helping kids learn to read.
She is survived by her 4 children, 7 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
