She was preceded in death by parents Charles and Amy Kobett; brothers William, Robert & Gordon; infant sister Therese; loving husband of 44 years, Kenneth F. Kendle; & dear friend Barb Kendle.
Mary Lou is survived by her devoted children, Theresa (Phil), Kenneth (Julie), Michelle (Dave), and Roxanne (Jay); proud grandmother to 11 grandchildren, Hannah, Rachel, Emma, Noah, Olivia, Daniel, Laura, Paul, Anne, Jack & Sophia; 5 beautiful great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Oliver, Griffin, Callan, & Linden; and many dear friends, including Siri Smith.
Mary Lou grew up in St. Paul, graduated from Mechanic Arts H.S. in 1954, and was a lifelong dedicated Catholic. She married Kenneth Kendle on June 8, 1957 and together they were phenomenal parents. She earned her AA degree in Secretarial Science in 1983 and worked for the Legislative Commission on Minnesota Resources for nearly 15 years.
Upon retirement, she enjoyed her cabin in Luck, WI and traveled the world – China, London, Paris, Rome and beyond, mostly with her sister-in-law Dorothy and close friends. Mary Lou was a passionate Vikings fan and surrounded herself in purple and gold. She enjoyed 30 years of Jazzercise at which she made many lifelong friends.
Mary Lou was an avid reader with her own rating system for books. The best books earned 5+ ratings. She was an enthusiastic puzzler (yay Liberty Puzzles!) as well as a competitive Rummikub opponent. Her knitted dishcloths and embroidery were her signature crafts.
Mary Lou and family would like to thank Lakeview Hospice and Boutwells Landing for their loving care.
A funeral will be held on Wednesday, 17 April at 10 am, with a visitation two hours prior, at Wulff Funeral Home, 1485 White Bear Ave. in St. Paul. Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
