Born on July 3rd, 1942, Patty grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota with her brother Mick LeRoy , her

mother Margorie LeRoy and Father Glen LeRoy.

At the age of 21, she married Ronald Modean in June 1963 and enjoyed life in Roseville, MN, raising their

three children, Michelle, Carrie, and Jason. While she grew up going to church, it is when their children

were young that she and Ron re-committed themselves to the Lord and became more involved with their

church and faith. Ronnie passed away in January 1988.

After moving to Vadnais Heights, Patty met Cecil Garrett over the phone while working at EMPI. They

quickly fell in love. They married in March 1993 and Patty moved to Kentucky. Patty thoroughly enjoyed

decorating their home they built. They spent their years together with many dear friends. Caring for

horses, raising puppies, and loving on their favorite dog, Beardog. Patty and Cecil then moved to

Pensacola, Florida, where they built Patty’s brother and sister-in-law’s home nearby in Alabama. Many

days were spent enjoying the beach, their backyard pool, and serving in their church. Cecil felt the Lord

calling him back to the gentle pastures of Kentucky, so off they went.

Back in Kentucky, they were able to reconnect with family, friends and places from the past, but their time

there was cut short due to Cecil's cancer diagnosis and subsequent death in April 2015. Patty made her

way back to Minnesota to be close to her family. After finding her church community at Redeeming Love

Church in Maplewood, MN, she met Andy Friendt in 2018 in her bible study. It was like young love, with

the light in Patty’s eyes returning again. They married in July 2020 and spent the next few years enjoying

going on dates to Stillwater, shopping and even motorcycle riding! Patty cared for Andy as he went

through kidney disease until his passing in May 2024.

Patty began to put the pieces of her heart back together after the passing of Andy. She loved decorating

her new apartment, exploring and shopping her way through the city of Mahtomedi, and gaining

confidence to drive again. On Monday, May 19th the Lord made the decision that Patty was to move

again, but this time to HEAVEN.

She is survived by her children, Michelle Goertzen (Mark), CarrieAnn Carson, Jason Modean (Amy),

many grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as the extended families of Cecil and Andy whom

she continued to love.

So many people looked to Patty for her comfort, guidance, and prayers. She was a constant shining light

for all that knew her. Patty’s family would like to acknowledge her dear friends from her bible study at

Redeeming Love Church, as well as friends from her time in Minnesota, Kentucky, and Florida. All who

were like family to her. We are grateful for your support, prayers and love.

A visitation for Patricia will be held Saturday, June 7, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Redeeming Love Church, 2425 White Bear Avenue North, Maplewood, Minnesota 55109, followed by a celebration of life at 11:00 AM.
