Shaun was our neighbor for the past 14 years. He was always moving around his yard working or tinkering with the boat, or the snowmobile or grilling, mowing the yard or blowing the snow in the winter, but he was always outside in the yard, him and the dog! If ever we needed help...Shaun was there!  What a void in our lives, he will truly be missed!
May God bring comfort to his wife, children, grandchildren and all those he leaves to mourn.

I only had the privilege of meeting Shaun one time, and that’s because he opened up his home to put on a fish fry for my boys and I. We hardly knew Shaun, but he insisted that we eat his fish so that we had more to bring home.  Months later, my boys are still telling his jokes, and banging on the sides of the fish house to help call in the fish. He was a man with a big sense of humor, and an even bigger heart. RIP Shaun

Let me tell you about Shaun O'Malley.   The first words that come to me is friend and brother.  Shaun was four years younger than me....but it never felt like that.  I became his next door neighbor at 12 and he was only 8.   Shaun became a little brother to me.  We shared the same hopes, the same fears and of course the same troubles together.  We played 500 on Eastern Heights playground all day.  We played football in the Straka's backyard.  We skated on Conway playground hockey rink until they turned the lights out.   We ate popcorn together in front of your mom and dad's TV.  I remember how hard your father worked on the Alaskan pipeline and how your mom held things together on the home front.   I remember the trips to their cabin in  Northern Wisconsin.   I remember a particular trip when my timing belt on my Honda Civic gave way and you knew how to fix it.  And I remember how much trouble we got into and you were the first to defend me.  Yes Shaun, I remember how good of a friend you were.  Over the years we lost touch.   I joined the Marine Corps....you joined the Marine Corps.   I got married to Kathleen. and you to Nina.   We got in touch a couple of times in Yuma and El Toro.  Life got busy and we lost touch.  A few years ago we reconnected on Facebook.   We messaged over Facebook and talked to each other over the phone a few times.  We reminisced over our childhood and promised to get together.  We never did.   That opportunity is lost and I am so sorry it will not happen.....but I can tell  you as my friend,  as my little brother.....I will never forget the times we shared together.   Love you Shaun.

So sorry to hear about this accident taking Shaun from his family & friends far to soon. The Tall Tales Tavern will not be the same without that smiling face and infectious personality Shaun.  Rest In Peace Shaun, our faith in a loving God, love of family, and friends can’t replace you but it will carry your family through the difficult days ahead🙏
