With profound love, deep gratitude, and unwavering faith in God’s promises, we celebrate the life of George B. Timmes, who passed away on December 28, 2025. A devoted husband, proud father, loyal friend, and a man known for his intelligence, sharp mind, steady strength, and unmistakable sense of humor — George leaves behind a legacy of faith, perseverance, generosity, and love. Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in knowing he was welcomed into eternity by his Lord and Savior.
Born and raised on Long Island, George attended St. John’s Prep and later earned both his undergraduate and master’s degrees at St. John’s University, where he played basketball and baseball and earned the New York City batting title during his collegiate years. He built a distinguished career in Information Technology, selling large computer systems to universities and institutions, achieving the esteemed status of Account Manager for AT&T worldwide with Digital Equipment Company, before launching his own software companies later in his career.
George was immensely proud of putting his three sons through college — and after marrying Yvonne, he committed himself to doing it all over again for her sons. Together, they supported six boys through higher education, which required determination, sacrifice, prayer, and steadfast dedication. George embraced that responsibility with resolve and love, quietly leading by example and teaching the value of hard work, integrity, and faith.
After retirement, he found the love-of-his-life job serving as a Starter and Marshal at the prestigious Atlanta Athletic Club for seven years, where he combined his passion for golf with the friendships he treasured so deeply. From Long Island to Richmond, Philadelphia, and finally Atlanta, George built lifelong relationships grounded in loyalty, laughter, and genuine care for others.
He found great joy in golf, all sports, gardening, his beloved dogs, and above all, his family. Nothing meant more to him than time spent with those he loved.
George is survived by his devoted wife, Yvonne; his sons, Scott (Meghan), Jonathan (Lori), Christopher, and Yvonne’s sons, Rob (Joanna), Christopher (Lyndsey), and Craig (Melissa); and his cherished grandchildren, Katelyn, Avery, Ethan, Owen, Madison, Justin, Joshua, Alexandra, Blakely, and Beckett.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Celebration Village Forsyth for their support and compassion over the past two years.
A celebration of George’s life will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at South Forsyth Memorial Chapel, 3545 Peachtree Pkwy, Suwanee, GA 30024, with a light reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in George’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Yvonne shares, “I will be forever grateful that God blessed me with George in my life.” All those who knew him would agree — we were blessed too.
