Barbara Elizabeth Francis

Barbara Elizabeth Francis, also known as Barbie to her friends, passed away peacefully at home in Eskasoni surrounded by her loved ones at age 56. Born in Sydney, she was the youngest daughter of 17 children to Roddie and Matilda (Dennis) Googoo.

She was a member of the Holy Family Parish. Barb enjoyed a lot of things, especially hanging out and gambling with her friends, in particular her honorary baby girl Libby Alex.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years, David S. Francis, and her children Kareina (Austan) and Keairian (MJ). She also leaves behind her siblings: Mick (Dorothy), Steve (April), Linda, Doreen, Karen, Trudy and Marion, her best sister-in-law Frances, and the woman who helped raise and love her when her mother left to the spirit world, Kiju-Sharon Paul. Godchildren: J.D., Brandon Tillie, Letoya, Mason, Tilda, Mallory, Stephanie, Stephen jij Audarius, Paris, Josiah & baby.

She enjoyed going to bingos, playing dice bingo & pokeno. She loved doing crafts & diamond arts puzzles, listening to music, travelling, enjoying time with family, and having picnics. She always loved volunteering at the church since she was a little girl with her parents until she couldn't anymore. Her illness didn't stop her, love for God pushed her even harder. She was the glue to the entire family. She loved all the family, welcome anyone into her home, and loved and raised them as her own. Annie B, Denny Brian, Kylie, Alfred, Mary, Aleigha, Duran, Crisinda, Emily, Emma, Summer, Ann Paul, Stella, and Annie Marie, Ayla and Damon. Her honorary grandbabies: Tyrell, Kaylie, Mochi, Maizey, Noah, Deontay, Luke, Lenayah, Catlin, Mateo, Lacey, Melodi, Tepkunaset, Axel, Tyler, Deondré, Melody, Olivia, Elizabeth, Rowen, Anita jij and Priya.

She also leaves behind all her gambling/dice, bingo pals and besties: Ucca, Melinda, Jessies, Deanna, Marcia and Jai.

Barb is predeceased by her parents Roddie and Tida Googoo, and siblings Robert, Raymond, Ryan, Roderick, Kenny, Susie, Isabell, Sheila, Annie Bridget, Roseanne, Anita, Laura and Clara.

Visitation to take place at the Gabriel Center starting at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday July 2nd until the funeral mass which will be held 10:00 a.m. on Saturday July 4th at Holy Family Church followed by interment and Salité. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family by visiting twcurry.com.
