BJ passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and those who loved him, at Alderwood Rest Home in Baddeck, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, where he had resided for the past four years.
BJ was truly one of a kind. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him will remember his infectious laugh, warm smile, wonderful sense of humour, and his love of music and playing his guitar.
Throughout his life, BJ faced more challenges than most, yet he showed remarkable strength and resilience. Despite everything life placed in his path, he never lost his ability to laugh, share a joke, or bring a smile to someone else's face.
One of BJ's favourite sayings was “Keep your stick on the ice,” a simple expression that those who knew and loved him will forever associate with him.
BJ leaves behind his loving sisters, Zana MacDonald-Bell and Ina MacDonald; and his brothers, Keon MacDonald, Terry (Amber) MacDonald, and Trevor (Rebecca) MacDonald.
He was a much-loved uncle to Ryan, Morgan, JJ, Trace,Ceilidh, Chelsey, Breanna, Tye, Mason, and the newest addition to the family, baby Aloy. He is also remembered by his biological family, extended family, and many friends whose lives he touched along the way.
BJ was predeceased by his loving parents, Autumn and John D. MacDonald.
A funeral service will take place at St. Mary's Church, East Bay on Friday, October 30th at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Anthony O'Connor, followed by burial at St. Mary's Parish Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please forward donations to Alderwood Memorial Fund. Memories and condolences can be shared with the family by visiting twcurry.com.
BJ's laughter, kindness, and unforgettable spirit will remain in our hearts forever.
Rest peacefully, BJ. Until we meet again, keep your stick on the ice.
With love,
The MacDonald Family
