Boyd Francis Marshall

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving father, brother, uncle, nephew and partner, Boyd Francis Marshall on October 1, 2026, at the age of 53. He was surrounded by his loved ones at the QE2 Infirmary in Halifax after a short battle with cancer.

Born in Sydney, NS on August 31, 1973, Boyd was the son of Jean Marie Marshall (Simon) and Francis Joseph Marshall, and he was the brother to Margaret (Bac) Marshall, Francis (Ucca) Marshall, Agnes Marshall, Roy (Daphne) Marshall and Cecilia (M.R.) Marshall, and his honorary brother Louis "Jumbo" (Majorie). He is survived by his uncles Noel Joe Simon, Bulb Simon, Louie Simon and Steven Simon and his aunt, Viney Sapier. Boyd is also survived by his godparents Noel Joe Simon and Bridget Christmas, and his godchildren Paige Marshall, Denaye Dennis and Remini Marshall, as well as several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his grandparents, Mary Louise & Noel Simon, and Judina & Joseph P. Marshall; brother Joe Nowell Marshall; aunts Dorothy Simon, Cecilia and Jackie; uncles Louis Marshall, Simon, Alfred and Antle.

Boyd was a loving father to his children Kareina Googoo, Mark "Bella" Poulette, Shawn Poulette, Tyrin poulette and Katelynn Marshall, as well as his step children Kingston Herney and Krystal Herney. He will be especially missed by his partner, Matilda Herney.

As a finalist in horseshoe competitions, Boyd enjoyed travelling to competitions around the province and bringing home the gold. Earlier in life, Boyd loved to play baseball and hockey. He was a hardworking carpenter with Eskasoni Housing for many years, and annually travelled to Maine as a highly productive blueberry raker. Boyd was never picky or fussy, and he loved to joke around with those he loved. He enjoyed online gambling whether he won or lost.

Special thanks to the CBRH ICU staff, as well as the staff at the QE2 Infirmary for their kindness and compassion while they cared for Boyd.

Visitation will take place at the Family Home, 5098 Shore Rd, Eskasoni, NS, on Tuesday October 13, 2026, beginning at 7:00 pm.

A Funeral Mass will take place at Holy Family Catholic Church on Thursday, October 15 at 10:00 am with Fr. Antolin Asor officiating. Burial and Salité immediately following. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family by visiting twcurry.com.
