It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Caroline Ann Joe, of Eskasoni First Nation on Thursday, September 10th, 2026, at the Kiknu Long-Term Care Home. Born in Sydney, NS on March 4th 1963, She was the daughter of the late Francis “Frank” and Rita Joe of Eskasoni.
Caroline touched the lives of everyone who had the honour of knowing her. She was a free-spirited, humorous, and caring woman who brought warmth and joy to those around her.
Caroline spent a large part of her life creating beautiful crafts and doing beadwork alongside her mother and sisters. These moments were especially meaningful to her and reflected her love of family and tradition. She found pure happiness in the simple things in life: sitting in the living room with her beloved cat, “Babes,” sipping her coffee or an iced capp, saying her morning rosary, spending time on her laptop, and watching her favourite show, The Price Is Right. She especially cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren, and friends, laughing and playing cards together. Caroline was very proud of her traditional name, “Three Feathers Dancing,” as well as her beloved nickname, “Beastie Kiju.” Both names held a special place in her heart and were a part of the person she was. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
Caroline is survived by her three children: Carla Jean, Fallon and Frankie, grandchildren; Chanelle, Brianne, Atreyu, Meadow, Kitana, Bryan Eagles, Shya & Cloud, her sisters; Phyllis Denny, Evelyn Toney, Frances (Tom) Sylliboy, Ann (Joe Kelly) Joe, brothers; Edward (Marlene) Ginter, Martin Dohrmann, Charlie (Eleanor) Joe and Dana (Mabel) Joe, along with numerous nieces and nephews, godchildren; Richard Rose & Gail Jij, her aunt; Carmel Mellen, close friends; Natalie Denny, Patricia Issac & Godsister; Kimberly Stevens.
Besides her parents, Caroline was predeceased by her siblings; Robert (Bobby) Bernard, Junior Joe, Basil Joe, Bernadette (Joe) Rose, nephews; Stephen (Stevie) Rose Jr & Curtis (Curtie Boy) Bernard, godparents; Janet Matthews & Roddie Stevens, and her beloved daughter Theresa Ann Elizabeth Joe.
