Ellen was predeceased by her parents, Christian Quaade and Ruth Burnet; her step-mom, Cora Quaade; her husband, John MacDonald; her brother, Bruce Billet; her son, Peter MacDonald; her son-in-law, Mel Kelly; and her grandson, Jason Kelly.
Ellen worked in the hospitality industry for many years and retired from the Cambridge Suites. She was an avid rug hooker, along with Mildred and many other good friends, and was well known within the rug hooking community. She was a strong, independent woman despite her small stature, took great pride in being able to look after herself, and would tackle any challenge that life put in front of her. She loved spending time in her garden, and her yard was always beautifully maintained. Many good days were spent with her best friend and sister, Myra, having tea at Tim Hortons, or with brother Peter on the mountain. She was a beautiful person who greeted everyone with a smile and genuine kindness. We will all dearly miss her.
We would like to thank all of her caregivers, the VON, the staff at CBRH, her siblings, and her dear neighbors for their kindness, care, and support. Your compassion and presence meant so much to her and our family. A special thank you to neighbors Lindsay and Kathy for all they did, she loved you both.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Sydney River, on Tuesday, September 1, at 11:00 am, with Fr. Conrad Edwards officiating. Inurnment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks. To view the service or to leave a memory or condolence for the family, please visit twcurry.com.
