We are holding you in our hearts and keeping you in our prayers following the passing of your precious daughter Emma. It really only seems like a short time ago that Emma was born and we met her at a gathering at Jan and Nelson's home. This is such a difficult time for all of you and we pray that the support, love and prayers of family and friends is a source of comfort. We are sorry that we are unable to be with you for Emma's wake and funeral, but we are certainly with you in spirit. God bless you all. Love, hugs and prayers, Viola & Ivan

I first heard of the passing of an 18 year old in a race in Toronto and as a parent I was overwhelmed with grief for the family. I am out of town and my family emailed me to tell me who this 18 year old girl was. Your four children would be in the front few rows of Our Lady of Fatima every Sunday when I was taking my two girls for years. I lived on Rosewood Drive in Sydney as a child and my family have many ties to your family. I read some of the condolences and there are people passing their thoughts and prayers on that did not know any of you. This has touched so many people, I cannot imagine the heartache you are going through. With prayers and God carrying you and with time you will breath again.

From your neighbour and distantly related cousin Anne (MacIntyre) Everet

I am sending condolences to you on behalf of the Dufferin Peel Catholic School Board in Mississauga, Ontario. I am Chaplaincy leader at Cardinal Ambrozic Catholic Secondary School. One of my colleagues, Mario Bavilacqua, was involved in the Marathon, on a relay team. Mario was present in a station where Emma fell and helped with CPR. I wanted to reassure you, that Emma received great kindness and compassion seconds after her fall. She was not alone. Her life has touched the hearts and minds of our students as well. We are praying with you this week and send our heartfelt condolences. I am originally from Sydney (the Pier) and know the wonderful MacPhee family and Fr. Norman. May your hearts be strengthened by the kindness, care and prayers of all who surrround. Margie Gillis, Mississauga.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of the loss of your beautiful Emma. I struggle to find words to provide you with comfort. I pray that God will take away your pain and fill you instead with comforting thoughts and happy memories of Emma. She was blessed to have such a wonderfully warm, fun and loving family!

At times like this life seems so fickle. How can a young adult who is just blooming into full adulthood, with so much zest for life, suddenly be gone?
My most vivid memory of Emma was one year when she joined us at the annual trip to the Woods camp, where we built a lean too (photo attached) and some campfires in the rain with the other kids. Full of natural curiosity.
Breaks my heart to know she's gone.

Katherine, I was very shocked to hear of your daughters passing. There is not a word that I can say to easy your pain .... my prayers are with you and your family. take care

To Steven and family. We are saddened to see Emma's picture in the paper today. I heard about the death on the news yesterday but there was no name. Our prayers are for you at this difficult time.
Our Great-Grandfather had a bad heart and my Grandmother (your Great-Aunt) suffered from heart issues all her life. Several of my first cousins have children (Emma's third cousins) with heart issues as well.
