We the family, regret to announce the peaceful passing of Glenn McGuire on 13 July 2026 at his home. Glenn was born 25 November 1954 to Patrick and Anna McGuire and spent his whole life on the family farm on Upper Prince Street.
For many years Glenn was the school bus driver for the Grand Lake Road area and picked up and dropped off generations of children safely. He also helped run the family business and spent many hours plowing snow all around the city. He was a hard worker that truly enjoyed operating machinery and was often the last one in after a storm. In his younger years he rode quarter horses and competed in exhibitions around the Maritimes with his brothers. He had a love for animals and kept a flock of chickens until the end. Politics and history always seemed to be the chosen topic of conversation, and there wasn't a Clint Eastwood movie that he couldn't quote line for line. Glenn had an amiable personality and got along with everyone he met, young and old.
Glenn was predeceased by his parents and brother Mark. He is survived by his sons Patrick and Chad (Angela), grandchildren Sadie, Hank, Anna and Mack, brother Jim (Colleen) and sister Anna Marie (Peter). He is also survived by his former wives Loretta and Virginia.
We would like to thank Dr. Greg Myatt and staff and John Bourgeois for caring for Glenn while he faced many recent health challenges.
Donations in Glenn's memory can be made to Parkinson Canada www.parkinson.ca or a charity of one's choice.
There will be no visitation. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, 17 July 2026 at St. Theresa's Church, Sydney with Fr Evo DiPierro officiating. Burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Condolences may be shared at twcurry.com.
